About the position

Our client, a leading utility company in California, is seeking two Senior Civil Engineers for their San Dimas office. The incumbents will lead the design team for drinking water capital improvement projects. This is a permanent position that offers a competitive salary range of $108,000 to $157,000 per year. A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited college is required, along with a Registered PE certification and a minimum of 6 years of experience in water infrastructure design. This role is hybrid, allowing for a combination of in-office and remote work, and comes with great benefits. As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for leading a design team for multiple potable water supply, treatment, storage, and distribution design projects. You will oversee the preparation of design plans and specifications, ensuring that the design team meets schedules and budgets for all water supply and distribution design projects. You will also plan, direct, assign, review, and evaluate the work of assigned staff, including conducting performance evaluations and career development profiles. In this role, you will coordinate internal and external resources, including consultants, to ensure timely completion of design projects. You will collaborate closely with asset management staff, operations, customer service, and water quality staff. Additionally, you will perform quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) on design projects by other engineers and consultants, and oversee the QA/QC of the design team. Engaging and managing consultants, reviewing their invoices, and providing input on submittals and field changes during the construction phase will also be part of your responsibilities. You will represent or assist in representing the company in public settings regarding projects and provide engineering design services for Capital Improvement Programs and related documents.

Responsibilities

  • Leads a design team for multiple potable water supply, treatment, storage, and distribution design projects, overseeing the preparation of design plans and specifications.
  • Plans, directs, assigns, reviews, and evaluates the work of assigned staff, including conducting performance evaluations and career development profiles.
  • Coordinates internal and external resources, including consultants, to ensure timely completion of design projects, collaborating closely with asset management staff, operations, customer service, and water quality staff.
  • Prioritizes design projects, monitors project schedules and budgets, and implements corrective actions as necessary.
  • Ensures the design team meets schedules and budgets for all water supply and distribution design projects.
  • Performs quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) on design projects by other engineers and consultants, and oversees QA/QC of the design team.
  • Engages and manages consultants, reviewing their invoices.
  • Reviews and provides input on submittals and field changes during the construction phase.
  • Represents or assists in representing the company in public settings regarding projects.
  • Provides engineering design services for Capital Improvement Programs and related documents, including preliminary design reports, project cost estimates, cost/benefit analysis, value engineering reviews, and various evaluations and reports on system hydraulics, water supply, distribution, storage, treatment, and water quality projects.
  • Provides engineering design services or supervises design services for new business projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited college.
  • Registered PE certification.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in water infrastructure design.
