The Central Civil Works Department is expanding rapidly in the Great Lakes and Mid-West area, and we are seeking a Senior Civil Engineering Discipline Lead to help us build a strong team specializing in flood risk management systems. This role involves working on a variety of projects including locks and dams, levees, floodwalls, navigation floodgates, stormwater pumping stations, outfalls, spillways, and ecosystem restoration. As part of a diverse team of engineers, you will collaborate with project managers, civil engineers, hydrology and hydraulics engineers, geotechnical engineers, structural engineers, and environmental specialists to provide integrated, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions. This position is hybrid, allowing for flexibility in work location. In this role, you will serve as the Civil Engineering Discipline Lead or Project Design Manager on large flood risk management projects. Your responsibilities will include conceptualizing designs and overseeing the preparation of plans, specifications, cost estimates, technical reports, and other project documents. You will ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations, conduct site visits to examine field conditions, and present project proposals to clients. Additionally, you will mentor junior engineers, oversee the work of others, and contribute to business development efforts. This position offers the opportunity to grow into various roles, including technical leadership, people management, project management, and business development. We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in civil engineering, particularly in flood risk management projects, and experience working with federal agencies such as USACE, USIBWC, FEMA, and NRCS. The ideal candidate will have a Professional Engineer license and a proven track record of leading complex engineering projects.
