About the position
AECOM is seeking out a well qualified and motivated Senior Civil Engineer with a background in highway and roadway design for a great role in our Colorado Springs, CO office. The Senior technical resource will serve as a technical advisor for the team, providing specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise. The role involves developing study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by others, participating in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables, and developing construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects. The engineer will use their expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package, perform quality control review of design calculations or drawings, prepare technical specification sections, and provide input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements. Additionally, the engineer will initiate and create project designs and drawings/plans for transportation and/or civil design projects, perform detailed design including preparation of complete calculation packages and development of details, guide the drafting team for preparation of drawings from early stages of the design to the final contract plans, and oversee the work of less experienced designers. Meeting with clients to ensure client needs are met is also a key responsibility.
Responsibilities

Requirements
- BA/BS + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Nice-to-haves
- Professional Engineer (PE - Colorado)
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering + 10 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Experience with design software including MicroStation and OpenRoads.
- Familiar with MS Office software (Excel, Word, Project).
- Experience designing highway/roadway systems in Colorado.
- Previous design experience on transportation projects including Schematic Development and Preparation of Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E).
- Experience with Business Development/Client Relations.
