About the position

As a Senior Civil Engineer at Olsson, you will play a pivotal role in providing multidisciplinary, preliminary, and construction design services for a variety of land development projects, including mixed-use, commercial, residential, industrial, sports, and educational site developments. Your primary responsibility will be to offer overall technical support to the engineering team and act as an advisor on complex projects. This position not only requires a high level of technical expertise but also involves project management and mentoring of junior staff when necessary. You will often serve as the lead engineer on complex projects, ensuring that high-level technical engineering design is executed effectively. In this role, you will be responsible for executing Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) plans for the team, which is essential for maintaining the integrity and quality of the engineering designs. You will elevate the technical expertise within the team through mentoring and training, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement. Additionally, you will lead efforts to compile technical resources for the team and its projects, ensuring that all project requirements are met efficiently. Your responsibilities will also include supervising and directing professionals and technical staff in their design approaches, reviewing contracts with administrative support, and promoting efficiencies in producing quality work. Maintaining quality control and adequately checking plans will be crucial to your success in this position. This role is based out of either our Oklahoma City, OK or Tulsa, OK office, and we are looking for candidates who are passionate about making a positive impact in their communities through their work.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as lead engineer on complex projects and provide high-level technical engineering design.
  • Execute QA/QC plans for the team.
  • Elevate the level of technical expertise within the team through technical design mentoring and training.
  • Lead the effort for putting together technical resources for the team and its projects.
  • Supervise/direct professionals and technical staff in the design approach to meet project requirements.
  • Review contracts with support of administration.
  • Promote efficiencies in producing quality work.
  • Maintain quality control and adequately check plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 8 or more years of related Civil Engineering experience.
  • Must be a registered professional with at least four years of experience supervising technical personnel.
  • Proficiency in site layout, grading, utility design, erosion control, and regulatory approvals.
  • Working knowledge of Civil 3D.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to contribute and work well on a team.
  • Desire to build relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Ability to lead complex projects.
