About the position

As a Senior Civil Engineer at GHD in Orlando, FL, you will play a pivotal role in the planning, design, and construction engineering of various facilities. This position is part of our Engineering Design Organization (EDO), where you will contribute to the development of master plans, technical reports, design drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and preparation of permit submittals. You will be working alongside a global team of architects, designers, planners, engineers, and environmental scientists, all dedicated to creating inspirational architecture and landscapes that positively impact our communities. In this dynamic role, you will be involved in the development of supporting project information, which includes calculations, analyses, evaluations, cost estimates, report text, figures, and drawings. You will also perform construction phase engineering tasks such as submittal review and test data evaluation. Your expertise in AutoCAD and Civil 3D will be essential as you assist in the development of drawings and specifications, conduct condition assessments, and review existing facilities. Additionally, you will help develop preliminary facility layouts and designs while maintaining open communication with project team members and project managers. A key aspect of this role is the opportunity to train and mentor entry-level engineers, fostering their growth and development within the team. You will also have the ability to act as the lead Designer of Record for the civil engineering discipline on multidiscipline projects, ensuring that all engineering standards and practices are upheld. Responsibilities

  • Participate in the planning, design, and construction engineering of various types of facilities.
  • Assist in the development of master plans, technical reports, design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Prepare permit submittals for various projects.
  • Develop supporting project information including calculations, analyses, evaluations, and drawings.
  • Perform construction phase engineering tasks such as submittal review and test data evaluation.
  • Assist with the development of drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Assist with the development of specifications for projects.
  • Conduct condition assessments and reviews of existing facilities.
  • Help develop preliminary facilities layouts and designs.
  • Maintain open communication with project team members and project managers.
  • Train and mentor entry-level engineers.
  • Act as the lead Designer of Record for the civil engineering discipline on multidiscipline projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience working on site, stormwater, and/or conveyance projects.
  • Professional Engineering license in one or more states required.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D software.
  • Knowledge of modeling software for site utilities and infrastructure (e.g. Bentley, Innovyze).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both within a team and independently.
  • Willingness to travel to job sites to observe construction activities and complete field investigations (about 25% of the time).
