About the position

As a Senior Civil Engineer at GHD, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our communities through innovative engineering solutions. This position is based in Orlando, FL, and is part of our Engineering Design Organization (EDO). You will be involved in the planning, design, and construction engineering of various facilities, focusing on site, stormwater, and conveyance projects. Your responsibilities will include the development of master plans, technical reports, design drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and preparation of permit submittals. In this dynamic role, you will be expected to bring creativity and innovation to the table, helping to drive change in an ever-evolving world. You will work alongside a diverse team of architects, designers, planners, engineers, and environmental scientists, all dedicated to delivering inspirational architecture and landscapes. Your contributions will be crucial in developing supporting project information, performing construction phase engineering tasks, and assisting with the development of drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to train and mentor entry-level engineers, act as the lead Designer of Record for civil engineering disciplines on multidiscipline projects, and maintain open communication with project team members and project managers. Responsibilities

  • Participate in the planning, design, and construction engineering of various types of facilities.
  • Assist in the development of master plans, technical reports, design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Prepare permit submittals for various projects.
  • Develop supporting project information including calculations, analyses, evaluations, and report text.
  • Perform construction phase engineering tasks such as submittal review and test data evaluation.
  • Assist with the development of drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Assist with the development of specifications for projects.
  • Conduct condition assessments and reviews of existing facilities.
  • Help develop preliminary facilities layouts and designs.
  • Maintain open communication with project team members and project managers.
  • Train and mentor entry-level engineers.
  • Act as the lead Designer of Record for the civil engineering discipline on multidiscipline projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience working on site, stormwater, and/or conveyance projects.
  • Professional Engineering license in one or more states required.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Knowledge of modeling software for site utilities and infrastructure (e.g. Bentley, Innovyze).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work both within a team and independently.
  • Willingness to travel to job sites to observe construction activities and complete field investigations (about 25% of the time).
