About the position

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Government Services Division in White Sands, New Mexico. This position offers a generous relocation package to our offices in either Albuquerque or Los Alamos, and candidates must be willing to relocate. As part of our team, you will engage in cutting-edge engineering and consulting for the management and operating contractors of the US Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). This role is critical as it involves working on multi-discipline teams to develop and design facilities, systems, and equipment for the nation's major research laboratories and the legacy nuclear weapons production complex. The work is meaningful and challenging, providing an opportunity to contribute to significant engineering projects that impact national security. This mid-level design engineering position offers a variety of challenging opportunities in Civil Engineering and is designed to provide excellent career advancement potential. You will lead civil design engineering efforts on multi-disciplined project design teams, produce design drawings, conduct civil analysis and calculations, and prepare procurement and construction specifications. Additionally, you will attend project meetings, perform field walkdowns, and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead civil design engineering efforts on multi-disciplined project design teams.
  • Produce design drawings, civil analysis and calculations, procurement specifications, and construction specifications (civil sections).
  • Attend project meetings and perform field walkdowns.
  • Mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen; dual citizenship with a country other than the U.S. does not qualify.
  • BSCE from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program.
  • PE License, or ability to obtain one (preference for having a PE license).
  • Specific experience in drainage, grading/site preparation, stormwater prevention planning and retention, geotechnical characterization, and foundation design.
  • Five or more years of working in a project team environment in the design of industrial design projects or power plant experience.
  • Must be able to obtain US Government security clearance.
  • Experience working with and/or at Department of Energy sites and facilities.
  • Experience in preparing design drawings, engineering analyses and calculations, and construction, fabrication and procurement specifications.
