About the position

M&J Engineering is seeking a Civil Engineer to join their growing design firm in Farmingdale. The role involves supporting municipal projects primarily on Long Island, focusing on civil engineering design for roadways, highways, drainage systems, and various infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will collaborate with project managers and civil professionals to manage tasks and client expectations while developing technical and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with experienced Civil Professionals to support and manage project development.
• Interact directly with clients to understand their needs and expectations.
• Manage tasks/projects related to the planning, design, and construction of various infrastructure projects.
• Create construction documents and specifications for projects.
• Handle construction oversight and administration for projects.
• Support routine and non-routine assignments related to civil and environmental projects.

Requirements

• 4-15+ years of experience in municipal road and drainage design and construction.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a similar field.
• Familiarity with municipal contracts.
• Experience managing a team of engineers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience interfacing with engineering and drafting support disciplines.

Nice-to-haves

• P.E. in New York State.
• Experience with waterfront improvement projects.
• ACAD experience.
