About the position

The Senior Civil Engineer at Actalent will play a crucial role in managing projects from inception to completion, thereby alleviating the workload of other Senior Engineers. This position is designed to offer a balanced work-life schedule, with an average of 45-50 hours of work per week. The projects undertaken will encompass a variety of transportation design tasks for local agency clients, focusing on roadways, complete streets, trails, and drainage/water quality in regions such as the Truckee Meadows, the Tahoe Basin, and the Eastern Sierra. In this role, the Senior Civil Engineer will be responsible for managing projects to meet or exceed client requirements, identifying new business opportunities, developing project scopes and proposals, and maintaining positive relationships with clients. The position also involves preparing plans, specifications, and engineer's estimates, reviewing field reports, providing guidance to both office and field personnel, and mentoring project team members. This comprehensive approach ensures that all aspects of project management are handled efficiently and effectively, contributing to the overall success of the engineering initiatives undertaken by the company.

Responsibilities

  • Manage entire projects from inception to completion.
  • Alleviate the workload of other Senior Engineers.
  • Oversee transportation design tasks for local agency clients.
  • Prepare plans, specifications, and engineer's estimates.
  • Review field reports and provide guidance to office and field personnel.
  • Identify new business opportunities and develop project scopes and proposals.
  • Maintain positive client relationships and ensure project requirements are met or exceeded.
  • Mentor project team members and provide technical guidance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
  • 15 years of progressive civil engineering experience.
  • Nevada Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or ability to obtain reciprocity within the first 6 months.
  • Experience using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to identify and pursue new business opportunities.
  • Excellent client relationship development skills.
  • Proactive communication and timely responsiveness.
