About the position

AKS Engineering & Forestry is looking to expand into the Tri-Cities area, responding to requests from existing clients for civil engineering, land surveying, land use planning, construction support, and other services. The company is seeking a professional civil engineer or professional land surveyor to lead the new office as a Senior Project Manager and Branch Office Manager. This role involves establishing the firm's presence in the area while serving in a hands-on project management capacity. The successful candidate will be supported by other firm principals and multidisciplinary task leads, making this position ideal for a registered professional engineer or land surveyor ready to take the next step in their career and manage an office. Additionally, there are opportunities for firm ownership. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or land surveying, or an equivalent degree, along with a Professional Engineer (PE) civil license or Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license from Oregon or Washington. A minimum of 6+ years of experience in civil engineering project management related to private land development projects is required. The candidate should possess the ability to identify and pursue business development opportunities, have knowledge of local codes and agency standards, and a proven reputation for outstanding client service. Strong project management skills, financial management understanding, and the ability to build consensus and relationships are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with Civil 3D and/or MicroStation/InRoads design are also beneficial. In this role, the Senior Project Manager will manage site development projects from start to finish, ensuring that project deliverables meet the company's high-quality control standards. Responsibilities include taking care of existing clients and projects, overseeing professional engineering and surveying services, stamping final deliverables, conducting QA/QC reviews, and identifying new service opportunities. The candidate will also be responsible for interviewing and hiring staff, networking with clients and agency personnel, maintaining client relationships, overseeing office budgeting and workload planning, and providing technical leadership for the project team. This position requires a proactive approach to managing multiple priorities and producing high-quality work, making it ideal for a highly motivated individual who takes pride in their work and aims to provide clients with the highest level of service.

Responsibilities

  • Manage site development projects from start to finish.
  • Oversee professional engineering and/or professional surveying services as applicable.
  • Stamp final deliverables as applicable.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet the company's high quality control standards by providing QA/QC reviews.
  • Identify and pursue new opportunities in providing services for projects.
  • Interview and hire staff.
  • Network with clients, agency personnel, contractors, subconsultants, and colleagues to build/maintain professional alliances in the region.
  • Build and promote the company culture that focuses on client service and high quality work.
  • Maintain relationships with clients to develop future opportunities.
  • Oversee office budgeting, reporting, and workload planning.
  • Develop and manage all components of projects from proposal through construction including scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Provide technical leadership for project team.
  • Coordinate with other in-house disciplines, as well as outside subconsultants.
  • Manage and mentor staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or land surveying or equivalent degree (required).
