About the position

Dewberry is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join their Baltimore, Maryland office. This full-time position involves leading engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring quality control, and mentoring junior engineers. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in civil engineering, particularly in the mid-Atlantic region, and will be responsible for various aspects of project design and management.

Responsibilities

• Engineering plans, calculations and reports quality control review.
• Lead project engineering and design on projects.
• Represent Dewberry and projects with city, county, state and federal agencies.
• Project work will span street, parking lot, trail, and sidewalk design, utility- storm drain, sanitary sewer, water, and conduits- design, plans and profiles, stormwater management and erosion and sediment control design, maintenance of traffic, layout, grading and earthwork, cost estimating, plan and permit processing, and technical writing.
• Assists with scope and fee determinations for proposed engineering services.
• Assists with preparation of weekly schedules and task coordination.
• Assists with training/mentoring of staff.
• Coordinates design review process and permitting through outside agencies and assistance with client coordination.

Requirements

• BS degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent (design based degree)
• 12+ years of experience in design and construction of site/civil, land development and infrastructure projects; experience in Wilmington, Baltimore and Washington DC corridor is required.
• Professional Engineer in the State of Maryland, with Washington, DC and Delaware desired.
• Highly proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D, and Microsoft office applications - Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Excellent understanding and use of hydraulic and hydrologic modeling software.
• Excellent written, oral and graphic communication skills required for effective interface with public agencies, clients, sub-consultants and staff.
