About the position

Atkins is seeking a highly motivated Senior Civil Engineer to join their Civil Engineering Group in Henderson, Nevada. This role involves working on a variety of civil engineering projects, including grading, site plans, roads, utilities, and stormwater management. The position offers opportunities to work on local, state, and federal projects, with potential travel to various locations across the US, Europe, and the Middle East. The Senior Civil Engineer will lead project design, coordinate with project managers, and ensure quality control in all engineering work.

Responsibilities

  • Perform project design and sketch design concepts for development by junior engineers and CAD designers.
  • Plan and oversee the production of engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Conduct engineering investigations and planning work.
  • Develop and evaluate plans and criteria for new projects, selecting cost-effective solutions.
  • Analyze technical problems and devise new approaches and alternative solutions.
  • Prepare or oversee the preparation of cost and manpower estimates, schedules, and job budgets.
  • Coordinate work with project managers and guide junior professionals in design and drafting.
  • Ensure quality control and maintain quality standards in all produced work.
  • Occasionally manage projects as needed.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering; M.S. or graduate level technical coursework preferred.
  • Ten to twenty years of experience in civil engineering.
  • P.E. license is required.
  • Ability to lead and prepare civil engineering projects including construction plans and specifications.
  • Experience with roadways, sanitary sewers, water distribution systems, storm drain facilities, site grading, and stormwater management.
  • Proven technical writing and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Local experience working in the Las Vegas area.
  • Federal project experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of ProjectWise, Bluebeam, SharePoint, and MS Project is a plus.
