About the position

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Government Services Division, which provides innovative engineering and consulting services to the management and operating contractors for the US Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). This position allows for a hybrid and flexible work schedule, combining on-site work at our Los Alamos office with remote work from home. As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will be part of multi-discipline teams that are responsible for developing and designing facilities, systems, and equipment for the nation's major research laboratories and the legacy nuclear weapons production complex. This role is critical and offers meaningful and challenging engineering work that you can take pride in. In this mid-level design engineering position, you will lead civil design engineering efforts on a multi-disciplined project design team. Your responsibilities will include producing design drawings, conducting civil analysis and calculations, and preparing procurement and construction specifications for civil sections. You will also attend project meetings, perform field walkdowns, and mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and support to help them grow in their careers. Responsibilities

  • Lead civil design engineering efforts on multi-disciplined project design team
  • Produce design drawings, civil analysis and calculations, procurement specifications and construction specifications (civil sections)
  • Attend project meetings and perform field walkdowns
  • Mentor junior engineers

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen; dual citizenship with a country other than the U.S. does not qualify
  • BSCE from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program
  • PE License, or ability to obtain one (preference for having a PE license)
  • Specific experience in drainage, grading/site preparation, stormwater prevention planning and retention, geotechnical characterization, and foundation design
  • Five or more years of working in a project team environment in the design of industrial design projects or power plant experience
  • Must be able to obtain US Government security clearance
  • Experience working with and/or at Department of Energy sites and facilities
  • Experience in preparing design drawings, engineering analyses and calculations, and construction, fabrication and procurement specifications
