About the position

The Senior Civil Engineer position at Lanesra Technical Recruitment involves providing high-quality engineering design services within the water sector. The role is based in Bristol or Exeter and offers hybrid working options. The engineer will be responsible for coordinating design processes, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and contributing to the overall success of engineering services contracts.

Responsibilities

• Produce design layouts that are cost-effective and meet specification requirements.
• Ensure designs can be constructed and commissioned effectively.
• Utilize standard practices to maintain competitiveness.
• Provide estimates and feedback for the Proposals department.
• Develop and monitor efficient procedures for the department.
• Coordinate designs with all other disciplines to benefit the contract as a whole.
• Maintain files and records throughout the duration of contracts.
• Assure customer satisfaction by recognizing the importance of satisfying all stakeholders.
• Assist in supervising and developing staff.
• Ensure a safe working environment for all staff.
• Consider environmental issues in design processes.
• Adhere to health and safety requirements in all designs.

Requirements

• Significant experience in technical delivery of complex water industry engineering projects.
• Understanding of water and sewage treatment principles.
• Experience managing and mentoring staff in relevant design aspects.
• Membership of a professional institution, chartered or nearing chartership.
• Relevant engineering qualification in the discipline.
• Ability to rationalize designs and produce economic plant layouts.
• Good general knowledge of all aspects of water treatment including mechanical, process, and electrical engineering.
• Flexibility to assimilate large amounts of data.
• Ability to present technical proposals clearly and convincingly.
• Computer literacy and a valid driving license.
• Experience working on design and construct projects using digital design.
