WSP is seeking a Senior Civil/Geotechnical Engineer with experience in the mining industry to join our Denver-area office located in Lakewood, Colorado. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work as part of a regional team on challenging mining, heavy civil, and geotechnical projects. Your primary responsibilities will include leading the civil design of mine waste containment facilities, such as tailings and waste rock, as well as heap leach facilities. This involves initial layout and design, site selection, facility layout, geotechnical and hydrologic analyses, and the preparation of design drawings and technical specifications for construction. You will manage and execute a wide variety of mine waste geotechnical engineering projects, which include conducting geotechnical field investigations, laboratory testing programs, data interpretation, and geotechnical analysis. Your role will also involve scoping, directing, and reviewing complex geotechnical analyses with a focus on soil mechanics, including stability, seepage, thermal modeling, deposition modeling, and run-out analyses for mine waste or water embankment dams and waste rock spoils. As a Senior Engineer, you will independently manage projects according to client-approved scopes of work, ensuring the delivery of high-quality reports on time and within budget, subject to senior review and oversight. You will also contribute to client relationship and business development activities aimed at building and growing our business. Leading multi-disciplinary project teams and supporting technical proposals and design work packages in response to client needs will be essential aspects of your role. Additionally, you will manage the work of junior engineers and remain current in the latest geotechnical engineering techniques and practices. Collaboration with other engineers and planners on projects with infrastructure authorities on federally, state, regionally, and locally funded improvement and development projects will be a key part of your responsibilities. You will be expected to exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, adhering to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
