GPI is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer for our Land Planning Services group in our Buffalo or Rochester, NY, offices. As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for reviewing civil engineering plans, including public infrastructure, private commercial, and residential development plans, ensuring compliance with relevant codes. You will evaluate and review stormwater management permits and plans, assist and mentor staff on engineering and plan preparation, and interact with clients regarding ongoing projects. Additionally, you will attend meetings, including staff meetings and municipal board meetings as needed, and assist with public works projects for clients. This role requires a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and municipal codes, as well as experience with land use regulations and permitting in New York.

Responsibilities

  • Review civil engineering plans including public infrastructure, private commercial, and residential development plans to ensure compliance with relevant codes.
  • Evaluate and review stormwater management permits and plans.
  • Assist and mentor staff on engineering and plan preparation.
  • Interact with clients regarding ongoing projects.
  • Attend meetings, including staff meetings and municipal board meetings as needed.
  • Assist with public works projects for clients.

Requirements

  • NYS Professional Engineer license.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field.
  • Ten plus years of experience in municipal engineering and/or private land development.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and municipal codes.
  • Experience with land use regulations and permitting in New York.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration.
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails, and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members.
