About the position

The Senior Civil Structural Engineer position at Enercon Services Inc is a critical role within the Nuclear Service Group, focusing on the design and analysis of both existing and new power plant systems. This position is available in multiple locations including Kennesaw, GA, Fort Worth, TX, Chattanooga, TN, Naperville, IL, Overland Park, KS, Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and Baton Rouge, LA. The role can be structured as full-time, part-time, or contract-based, providing flexibility to meet the needs of the candidates and the organization. In this role, the engineer will be responsible for a variety of tasks that include the design and analysis of changes to existing power plants, as well as the development of new plant systems. Key responsibilities involve creating equipment mounting designs, foundation designs, and pipe support calculations. The engineer will support engineering design and analysis projects specifically tailored for the power industry, applying fundamental technical principles, theories, standards, and concepts. This includes interpreting design drawings and technical specifications to prepare project deliverables such as calculations, specifications, and engineering evaluations. The position also requires performing reviews, assembling, and preparing design modification packages, as well as developing specifications for structural components. Site walkdowns will be necessary to identify design solutions and develop cost-effective resolutions to problems. The engineer will conduct static equivalent and dynamic analysis of structures for seismic loads and will need to be familiar with industry codes and government regulations. Experience in designing pipe supports and structures, particularly in nuclear power plants, is highly desired. Collaboration with other staff engineers and those working from different offices will be essential to ensure project success.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analysis of changes to existing power plants as well as new plant systems

  • Perform work requiring the application of basic technical principles, theories, standards, and concepts
  • Read and understand design drawings and technical specifications to support preparation of project deliverables
  • Perform reviews, assemble, and prepare design modification packages
  • Develop specifications of structural components
  • Perform site walkdowns to identify design solutions and develop cost-effective problem resolutions
  • Perform static equivalent and dynamic analysis of structures for seismic loads
  • Gain familiarity with and application of industry codes and government regulations
  • Design of pipe supports and structures, particularly at nuclear power plants
  • Interface with other staff engineers as well as engineers working out of our offices

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
  • 7+ years of design engineering experience
  • Experience in the nuclear industry
  • Demonstrated proficiency in preparation of structural calculations
  • Knowledge of discipline-specific computer analysis software and standard office production software
  • Proficient in Word and Excel
  • Familiar with reinforced concrete and structural steel design
  • Familiar with building codes and standards including IBC, ASCE, ACI, and AISC
  • Good writing, presentation, and communication skills
  • Ability to be an individual contributor and work effectively in teams
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
