About the position

Terracon's Winter Park/Miami/Tampa office is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our Structural Engineering team within the Facilities Consulting Division. The successful candidate will provide engineering and consulting services across a diverse range of projects and clients, contributing to the growth of Terracon's existing Structural Engineering practice. This practice encompasses various services including Seismic Assessments, Remedial Design work, Litigation Support, and New Design. In this role, the Senior Engineer will be responsible for performing and/or leading field investigations, conducting engineering analysis, calculations, and formulating recommendations. The position involves the design and development of plans and specifications, as well as observation and inspection duties. The engineer will also be tasked with writing, preparing, and reviewing reports related to the services provided. Additionally, the role includes preparing proposals and cost estimates, tracking project progress and budgets, and recommending necessary changes. The engineer will research and resolve design and construction problems, assign and evaluate laboratory or field data for inclusion in reports, and apply sound engineering principles while effectively communicating complex engineering issues to both technical and non-technical clients and project teams. Although the focus will be on Structural Engineering, the candidate will collaborate with Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical engineers, as well as a team of Registered Professional Engineers and Architects for Facility Conditions Assessments. Responsibilities

  • Lead safety efforts for the team and ensure adherence to safety rules and guidelines.
  • Manage or consult on structural engineering and material diagnostics projects, including remedial designs, new designs, litigation support, and condition assessments.
  • Perform structural analysis, design, and develop construction documents and specifications for new and remedial design projects.
  • Peer review construction documents, protocols, shop drawings, RFI's, scopes of work, specifications, and other similar documents associated with structural design and repair/restoration.
  • Prepare and write professional reports with a logical presentation of technical ideas and recommendations.
  • Drive business with new and existing clients and actively participate in the implementation of marketing strategies.
  • Supervise and mentor junior and less experienced facilities division professionals to cross-train on structural services.
  • Work with existing clients to obtain additional work and develop new clients.
  • Support a first-class working environment consistent with Terracon's purpose, vision, and values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering and 10+ years of industry experience.
  • PE License in the state of Florida.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.

Nice-to-haves

  • SE License Highly Preferred
  • Master or Ph.D. in Civil / Structural Engineering Preferred.
