About the position

The Senior Claims Technical Specialist role at QBE Americas Inc. is a full-time position that involves managing a diverse portfolio of complex and high-severity claims primarily related to Directors and Officers (D&O), Fiduciary, and Financial Institutions Errors and Omissions (E&O). The specialist will work closely with internal business partners, including senior management, underwriters, and actuaries, as well as external customers such as insureds, brokers, and defense counsel to achieve favorable outcomes for the company. This position requires a strong focus on customer care, responsiveness, and satisfaction while managing assigned claims to deliver superior service and outcomes. In this role, the specialist will conduct independent coverage, liability, and damages analysis to assess potential exposure to the company. They will draft correspondence that clearly communicates the company's coverage position and analyze, develop, and determine appropriate case reserves on all assigned claim files. The specialist will also attend mediations of complex claims on behalf of the company to negotiate settlements within their authority and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Additionally, the specialist will collaborate with outside counsel to formulate litigation strategies and represent QBE at industry seminars or through authoring articles. They will work with underwriters to identify and address novel or complex risks, participate in sales calls, and manage budgeted resources effectively. The role emphasizes personal development and career planning, requiring the specialist to continually enhance their skills and contribute to the organization’s value.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of complex and high severity claims underwritten out of the Financial Institutions and Public Company teams.
  • Conduct independent coverage, liability and damages analysis to assess potential exposure to the Company.
  • Draft correspondence that accurately communicates the Company's coverage position.
  • Analyze, develop and determine appropriate case reserves on all assigned claim files and recommend changes as necessary.
  • Attend mediations of complex claims to negotiate settlements within authority and compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Drive high levels of customer care and satisfaction when managing assigned claims.
  • Collaborate with outside counsel to formulate litigation strategies.
  • Represent QBE by participating in industry seminars or authoring articles.
  • Collaborate with Underwriters to identify and address novel or complex risks.
  • Manage budgeted resources by anticipating expenditures and accurately forecasting resource needs.

  • 8+ years relevant experience
