About the position

The Senior Cloud Architect will lead the design and implementation of cloud architecture solutions for the Department of Defense (DoD), focusing on transforming IT needs into actionable plans. This role involves mentoring junior developers, advising leadership on cloud technologies, and ensuring the integration of IT and business strategies to enhance operational capabilities. The architect will be responsible for cloud migration, modernizing legacy systems, and integrating advanced technologies to improve the Army's technological landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Translate customer IT needs into cloud architecture designs and technical approach artifacts.
  • Lead technical meetings and integrate requirements with IT strategies and initiatives.
  • Advise organizational leadership on emerging cloud solutions and open system technologies.
  • Mentor junior developers to help them grow into future solutions architects.
  • Shape the digital solutions business and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Ensure IT and business planning are fully integrated to increase business capability and value.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience managing U.S. Army, DoD, or IC programs and projects.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting industry or government sector cloud initiatives at an enterprise level.
  • 3+ years of experience with commercial cloud service providers, including AWS or Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with multi-region and multi-availability zone (AZ) and high availability (HA).
  • Experience defining organizational project cloud migration objectives and requirements.
  • Secret clearance required.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • IAT III Certification required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with software engineering, including prototyping and building software solutions.
  • Experience with designing and automating the provisioning of cloud resources and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Experience with RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and command-line interfaces.
  • Experience with Gitlab and the Atlassian tool suite, including Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience with implementing DevSecOps pipelines and Agile development techniques.
  • Knowledge of network technologies, including DNS, Routing, Load Balancing, and SSL.
