About the position

The Senior Cloud Data Architect will support the implementation of a Local Public Health Data Platform for the Department of Public Health (DPH) in Massachusetts. This role focuses on designing and developing cloud-based data management systems, ensuring the architecture aligns with business outcomes, and collaborating with both business and technical stakeholders. The architect will work with various technologies including Salesforce, Mulesoft, Snowflake, Informatica, and Tableau to modernize data workflows and reporting for public health data.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop cloud-based data management systems.
  • Implement centralized (Data Warehouse) and decentralized (Data Mesh) data architectures.
  • Create data models for cloud environments, including storage, access, and usage patterns.
  • Define data security policies, including authentication and authorization mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop scalable, highly available, and performant cloud data solutions.
  • Evaluate and recommend cloud products and services for data storage and processing.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance policies and best practices in the cloud.
  • Implement and manage data governance processes for cloud data.
  • Perform detailed analysis and documentation of cloud data architecture strategies.
  • Establish performance assessment processes and create action plans.
  • Lead design sessions for the data layers, including ETL review and decision facilitation.
  • Provide expertise in data integration using Snowflake, Informatica IICS, SQL, Mulesoft, and Python.
  • Understand and work with Salesforce CRM.
  • Ensure timely delivery of solutions that meet business requirements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Cloud Data Architecture, data warehousing, data modeling, ETL, and enterprise system engineering.
  • Experience implementing data warehouse and enterprise data architecture principles.
  • 3-5 years of experience architecting and developing AWS-based cloud data solutions.
  • 5+ years of experience with cloud database platforms, particularly Snowflake.
  • Expertise in end-to-end data architecture creation and maintenance.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain and propose solutions to both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Experience with Unix, Linux, shell scripting, system administration, database administration, storage, and networking.
  • Experience with Informatica (IICS), Mulesoft, and Salesforce.
  • Experience working with sensitive healthcare information and knowledge of HIPAA and data privacy controls.
