About the position

The Senior Cloud Data Architect position based in Quincy, MA, is a hybrid role that requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in Cloud Data Architecture and related fields. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing robust data architectures that support the organization's data needs. This role involves working with decentralized data architectures, particularly Data Mesh, and requires a deep understanding of data warehousing principles and enterprise data architecture. The position is expected to last for 12 months, with the possibility of extension, and involves a commitment of 37.5 hours per week. In this role, the Senior Cloud Data Architect will leverage their expertise in architecting and developing cloud-based data solutions, specifically on AWS. The candidate should have a proven track record of creating and maintaining end-to-end data architectures, ensuring that data flows seamlessly across various systems. Strong communication skills are essential, as the architect will need to explain and propose solutions to technical stakeholders, vendors, and business consumers. The role also requires proficiency in Unix, Linux, and shell scripting, as well as experience with large, multi-terabyte enterprise data platforms in the cloud. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with system administration, database administration, storage architectures, backup and recovery, and networking. Familiarity with Informatica (IICS) ETL and Snowflake Data Warehousing is crucial, as is experience working with highly sensitive healthcare information, including knowledge of HIPAA and other data privacy controls. Responsibilities

  • Design and implement robust data architectures that support organizational data needs.
  • Work with decentralized data architectures, specifically Data Mesh.
  • Architect and develop cloud-based data solutions on AWS.
  • Create and maintain end-to-end data architectures.
  • Communicate and propose solutions to technical stakeholders, vendors, and business consumers.
  • Manage system administration, database administration, and storage architectures.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy controls, including HIPAA.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Cloud Data Architecture, data warehousing, data modeling, ETL, enterprise and business information system architectures, and system engineering.
  • Thorough knowledge and implementation experience of data warehouse and enterprise data architecture principles, specifically decentralized data architectures like Data Mesh.
  • 3-5 years of experience architecting/developing cloud-based (AWS) data solutions.
  • 5+ years of cloud database platform experience such as Snowflake.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining end-to-end data architectures.
  • Strong communication skills, comfortable explaining/proposing solutions to technical stakeholders, vendors, and business consumers.
  • Proficiency with Unix, Linux, and shell scripting.
  • Experience working with a large, multi-terabyte enterprise data platform in the cloud.
  • Experience with system administration, database administration, storage architectures, backup & recovery, and networking.
