About the position

The Senior Cloud Data Engineer at Arrowstreet Capital is responsible for ensuring the fidelity of the Data-Driven Investment Process. This role focuses on building visibility and recovery mechanisms for a modern distributed investment process, which includes processing external vendor data and managing data flow through various stages such as pre-trade, optimization, post-trade, and reporting. The position requires a systematic approach to maintain a comprehensive view of the investment process and reduce process debt, leveraging modern cloud-native technologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop cloud-native solutions to enable visibility and rapid response in the data-driven investment process.
• Design and build systems to interact with distributed investment process applications for observability and management.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to create tools for visualizing the investment process network and identifying system risk factors.
• Design and implement the ability to run simulations through the entire investment system.
• Apply knowledge of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and data modeling techniques.
• Ensure timely completion of assigned deliverables with minimal management oversight.
• Assess trade-offs of different systems, processes, or technologies.
• Work with cross-functional teams to gather and document requirements for reports and dashboards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems analysis, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience building cloud-based applications in Python.
• 5+ years of experience with cloud services, preferably AWS.
• 5+ years of experience with AWS data services such as Redshift, Aurora PostgreSQL, S3, Athena, or DynamoDB.
• 3+ years of experience in developing and optimizing data transformation processes using tools like Apache Spark or AWS Glue.
• 2+ years of experience in building CI/CD pipelines and strong knowledge of Git.
• 2+ years of experience with container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• 2+ years of experience writing Infrastructure as Code using Python, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
• Familiarity with AWS OpenSearch, Prometheus, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and IAM policies.

Nice-to-haves

• Prior experience with Object-Oriented languages like C# or Java.
• Prior AWS Certifications.
• Experience writing cloud-native applications using AWS SAM, Lambda, Step Functions, or DynamoDB.
