About the position

The Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer at Applied Insight plays a crucial role in enhancing DevOps practices by leveraging AWS technologies to build a nationwide cloud presence for unclassified software development within the Department of Defense. This position involves working closely with various operating systems and cloud platforms to improve security automation, facilitate collaboration with software engineers, and streamline infrastructure processes.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with various operating systems, applications, environments, and cloud computing platforms to create IT automation and orchestration activities.
  • Use open-source technologies and tools to accomplish specific use cases encountered within the project.
  • Utilize coding languages or scripting methodologies to solve problems with custom workflows.
  • Collaborate with project team members to brainstorm solutions for complex technological infrastructure, security, or development challenges.
  • Perform incremental testing actions on code, processes, and deployments to identify ways to streamline execution and minimize errors.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI Clearance w/ Polygraph
  • Considerable experience with Windows and Linux operating system environments.
  • Expertise with Linux configuration management and system administration.
  • Experience with infrastructure scripting solutions such as PowerShell or Python.
  • 5 years hands-on technical experience with cloud computing services (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
  • Experience administering and deploying development CI/CD tools such as Git, Jira, GitLab, or Jenkins.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a keen sense of customer service.
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Process oriented with great documentation skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • AWS Solutions Architect, Developer, or SysOps Administrator Associate Certification.
  • AWS DevOps Engineer Professional Certification.
  • HashiCorp Certified Terraform Associate.
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) certification.
  • Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) certification.
  • Puppet Certified Professional.
  • Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Automation.
  • Familiarity with agile software development in Go, Rust, C/C++, Java, Python, or JavaScript.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services.
  • Department of Defense Cyberspace Workforce Management baseline certification.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related Field (An additional 4 years of IT experience can substitute for a BS Degree).
