About the position

The Senior Cloud Developer at Applied Insight plays a crucial role in enhancing the capabilities of federal government customers by leveraging advanced cloud technologies and methodologies. This position focuses on building enterprise-scale environments using AWS, automating processes, and collaborating with software engineers to improve security and streamline infrastructure. The role involves working on dynamic, short-term professional services engagements, emphasizing migration, evolution, and optimization within AWS-based environments.

Responsibilities

  • Enhance current skillset by disrupting traditional workflows and processes using AWS technologies and DevOps methodologies.
  • Interact with various operating systems, applications, environments, and cloud computing platforms to create IT automation and orchestration activities.
  • Use open source technologies and tools to accomplish specific use cases encountered within the project.
  • Utilize coding languages or scripting methodologies to solve problems with custom workflows.
  • Collaborate with project team members to brainstorm solutions for complex technological infrastructure, security, or development problems.
  • Perform incremental testing on code, processes, and deployments to streamline execution and minimize errors.
  • Work with cloud native services to implement event-driven architectures via Infrastructure as Code.

Requirements

  • At least 12 years of experience in software development, software engineering, or systems automation.
  • Experience with agile software development in Python, Go, or Node.js.
  • Experience performing automation in Windows or Linux environments using scripting languages such as Bash or PowerShell.
  • Customer-facing skills to drive discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, best practices, project management, and risk mitigation.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • BS in Computer Science, IT, IS, or equivalent area of technical study.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.

Nice-to-haves

  • AWS experience preferred, but not mandatory.
  • AWS Solutions Architect, Developer, or SysOps Administrator Associate Certification.
  • Experience working with JSON or YAML to write Infrastructure as Code.
  • Familiarity with container orchestration services, especially Kubernetes.
  • Experience with development CI/CD tools such as Git, Jira, GitLab, or Jenkins.
  • Experience performing software development in Windows or Linux operating system environments.
