About the position

ALTA IT Services is seeking a Senior Cloud Developer for a long-term contract position based in Washington, DC. This role involves cloud development work to support various projects, including the development of collection and processing pipelines, database development, and the initial deployment of enterprise cloud-based systems. The position requires expertise in AWS cloud application development, Agile methodologies, and proficiency in Python for backend services, along with Angular or React for front-end development.

Responsibilities

• Develop and support cloud applications and services using AWS.
• Lead database management, programming, cloud security/recovery, and cloud-centric integration efforts.
• Write and maintain Python code and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using AWS CDK or Terraform.
• Model business processes using AWS Step Functions.
• Develop container-based applications utilizing REST APIs with Angular or React in TypeScript.
• Utilize AWS CloudWatch and AWS CloudTrail for logging and auditing in a regulated environment.
• Conduct remediation and unit testing of code during application development and user deployment.

Requirements

• Proven experience in AWS cloud application development.
• Strong background in Agile development methodologies.
• Expertise in Python programming for backend services.
• Experience with Angular or React for front-end development.
• Comprehensive understanding of cloud technology platforms and tools/services.
• Hands-on experience with DevOps practices and database management.
• Ability to write unit tests and utilize mocking techniques.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with GovCloud development.
• Familiarity with workflow design using Airflow.
• Functional knowledge of Docker.
• Experience with AWS Lambda functions and their deployment types.
• Knowledge of designing Glue jobs using Python Shell and PySpark.
