About the position

As the largest provider of IT services, Leidos develops and sustains large data and technology infrastructures and integrates complex law enforcement IT systems for several US federal agencies. This role is focused on serving a federal law enforcement agency in Huntsville, Alabama. The Senior Cloud Developer will be responsible for developing cloud service delivery models and architectural frameworks to enable various service models including Platform as a Service (PaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS), and Data as a Service (DaaS). The position requires the ability to implement automation for cloud resources using DevSecOps best practices and to analyze applications to make recommendations regarding their migration to cloud environments. The Senior Cloud Developer will also provide strategies for failure/recovery, cost optimization, and benefit analyses of cloud, cloud-agnostic, and on-site premise services. This role involves developing and implementing cloud applications, migrating existing on-premises applications to the cloud, debugging cloud stacks, managing policies for cloud service usage, and establishing a secure cloud environment while ensuring appropriate availability and uptime design. The developer will work independently to design and develop new software products or major enhancements to existing cloud software. As part of an Agile team, the Senior Cloud Developer will maintain applications that enable advanced communications analysis, storing and analyzing transactional metadata. It is crucial for the senior team member to possess comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high-impact assignments, plan and lead major technology assignments, evaluate performance results, and recommend significant changes affecting project growth and success. The role also requires functioning as a technical expert across multiple project assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop cloud service delivery models and architectural frameworks for PaaS, IaaS, SaaS, and DaaS.
  • Implement automation for cloud resources using DevSecOps best practices.
  • Analyze applications and make recommendations for migration to cloud environments.
  • Provide strategies for failure/recovery, cost optimization, and benefit analyses of cloud services.
  • Develop and implement cloud applications and migrate existing on-premises applications to the cloud.
  • Debug cloud stacks and manage policies for cloud service usage.
  • Establish a secure cloud environment and ensure appropriate availability/uptime design.
  • Support leadership in prioritizing technical agility, stability, and capability through cloud computing technologies.
  • Maximize the architectural framework concept of microservices for application evolution.
  • Deliver scalable, secure, and resilient system and infrastructure capabilities.
  • Support cloud architectures across AWS unclassified and classified enclaves with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of cloud infrastructure, troubleshoot issues, and ensure cost optimization.
  • Monitor cloud environments to prevent unforeseen charges and ensure billing alerts are enabled.
  • Support migration of IT capabilities to the cloud with advanced knowledge of cloud infrastructure and security.
  • Design, develop, deliver, and sustain cloud-based solutions that connect disparate data sources.
  • Integrate new and existing application features with back-end systems using various software tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or a related discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 8-12 years of prior relevant experience or a Master's degree with 6-10 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • DOD Top Secret Clearance is required.
  • US Citizenship.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience maintaining the Apache Hadoop Ecosystem, especially HBase, MapReduce, and Spark.
  • Experience with ETL processes utilizing Linux shell scripting, Perl, Python, and Apache Airflow.
  • Experience with AWS services such as CloudWatch, CloudTrail, ELB, EMR, KMS, SQS, SNS, and Systems Manager.
  • Experience in supporting, maintaining, and migrating JavaFX applications to modern cloud-native solutions.
