About the position

Pyramid Consulting, Inc. is seeking a talented Senior Cloud Developer for an immediate contract opportunity in Atlanta, Georgia. This position is expected to last for 12 months or more, with the potential for long-term engagement. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing solid and supportable modular designs for data streaming, cloud transformation/migration, and API product development that support critical applications. The role requires the development of data APIs and data delivery services that cater to operational and analytical applications for the client's internal business operations, customers, and partners. The Senior Cloud Developer will also be tasked with the creation and support of data-centric products that span multiple specializations, platforms, and technologies. Analyzing technical information and producing quality software is a key responsibility, along with initiating collaboration with teammates and offering creative solutions to overcome obstacles. The candidate will work within automated testing and CI/CD processes, document solutions in both written and diagram form, and communicate effectively across teams. Additionally, leveraging developer coding standards to ensure alignment with design goals and business needs is essential. Proactive communication with both the team and leadership is expected, as well as collaboration with vendors. The position demands a strong understanding of cloud technologies, particularly AWS, and proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, shell scripting (Bash and PowerShell), and SQL. Experience with streaming data, data extraction from various databases, and deploying and managing infrastructures based on Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift is also required. The candidate should be flexible, possess a passion for learning, and have strong oral and written communication skills. Business Intelligence/Analytics experience is a plus, and a degree in Information Systems or Computer Science is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop solid and supportable modular designs for data streaming, Cloud transformation/migration, and API product development in support of critical applications.
  • Develop data APIs and data delivery services that support operational and analytical applications for Client's internal business operations, customers, and partners.
  • Creation and support of data-centric products that span multiple specializations, platforms, and technologies.
  • Analyze technical information and produce quality software.
  • Initiate collaboration with teammates.
  • Offer creative solutions to overcome obstacles.
  • Work within automated testing and CI/CD processes.
  • Be an expert on the products we built.
  • Document solutions in written and diagram form, and communicate across teams.
  • Leverage developer coding standards to ensure it meets design goals and business needs.
  • Identify technical issues, articulate impact and need for prioritization.
  • Proactive communication to both team and leadership.
  • Work collaboratively with vendor(s).

Requirements

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with multiple disparate systems.
  • Experience in Cloud Technologies (AWS / Azure / Client), with AWS preferred.
  • Proficiency with Python, Java, shell scripting (Bash and PowerShell), and SQL.
  • Experience working with streaming data and data extraction from different databases (Oracle, DB2, MySQL, etc.).
  • Experienced with deploying and managing infrastructures based on Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
  • Experience with scalable data extraction tools is a plus.
  • Experience working with Kafka, Aurora, AWS Glue, Redshift is a plus.
  • Understanding of data engineering, real-time streaming and/or eventing, and JSON parsing.
  • Experience with automating application deployment, continuous delivery, and continuous integration (Jenkins, Ansible, etc.).
  • Experience building microservices and API architecture.
  • Debugging and troubleshooting skills.
  • Must be flexible and have a passion to learn and collaborate with colleagues.
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Airline Industry experience is a plus.
