About the position

The Senior Cloud Developer at Schwab will play a crucial role in the thinkorswim Trading Technology team, focusing on the modernization and migration of applications to the cloud. This position involves hands-on development, design, and mentorship of junior developers, contributing to one of the most sophisticated trading platforms in the world. The role requires a strong background in cloud services, containerization, and SDLC pipeline management, with an emphasis on innovative problem-solving and collaboration within a dynamic team environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop cloud-based solutions for the thinkorswim platform.
• Mentor junior developers and provide guidance on best practices in cloud development.
• Manage and maintain CI/CD build pipelines to ensure efficient deployment processes.
• Implement and manage containerization technologies, particularly Docker and Kubernetes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to modernize applications and migrate to cloud environments.
• Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts to automate infrastructure provisioning.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related fields.
• 8+ years of hands-on automation development experience.
• 4+ years of experience in cloud environments such as GCP or AWS.
• 5+ years of proficiency in Java or other object-oriented programming languages.
• 5+ years of experience in setting up and maintaining CI/CD build pipelines.
• 5+ years of proficiency in scripting languages (Shell, Python, Ansible, etc.).
• 5+ years of systems administration experience, particularly with Linux.
• 3+ years of experience with containerization technologies like Docker.
• 3+ years of experience developing and managing Kubernetes clusters.
• 3+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code concepts, specifically Terraform.
