About the position

The Senior Cloud Developer position at ALTA IT involves working on cloud development projects, focusing on the collection and processing of data, pipeline development, and database management. The role requires expertise in AWS cloud application development and the ability to lead various aspects of cloud technology, including security and integration. This is a long-term contract position that allows for remote work with one day a week onsite in Washington DC.

Responsibilities

• Support cloud development work for various projects.
• Develop collection and processing pipelines.
• Manage database development and deployment of enterprise cloud-based systems.
• Lead database management, programming, cloud security/recovery, and cloud-centric integration.
• Write and deploy Python code along with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using AWS CDK or Terraform.
• Model business processes in AWS Step Functions.
• Develop container-based applications utilizing REST APIs with Angular or React in Typescript.
• Utilize AWS CloudWatch and AWS CloudTrail for logging events and audit messages.
• Perform remediation and unit testing of code during application development and user deployment.

Requirements

• AWS cloud application development experience.
• Agile development experience.
• Expert knowledge in cloud technology platforms, tools/services, DevOps, and database management.
• Hands-on AWS development experience.
• Experience writing Python code and workflow design using Airflow.
• Functional knowledge of Docker.
• Experience writing AWS Lambda functions and managing their deployment types.
• Experience designing Glue jobs using Python Shell and PySpark.
• Experience with database development and data migration (Postgres and Redshift).
• Experience building/accessing Data Lakes using Glue/Athena/Redshift.

Nice-to-haves

• GovCloud development experience helpful.
• Experience with SNS/SQL implementation techniques and event triggering.
