About the position

As a Senior Cloud Developer, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our cloud infrastructure and services, ensuring that our systems are robust, scalable, and secure. You will be part of a dynamic team that is responsible for designing, deploying, and managing cloud-based solutions that support our extensive operations in the air travel industry. Your expertise in AWS and cloud technologies will be crucial in maintaining our competitive edge in the market, as we strive to provide seamless travel experiences for nearly 200 million travelers each year. In this role, you will be tasked with implementing and managing cloud networking solutions, including VPCs, subnets, security groups, and VPNs. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with security best practices and regulatory requirements across all cloud environments. Your experience with DevOps practices, particularly with AWS Code Pipeline, GitLab CI/CD, and container orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes, will be essential in streamlining our development processes and enhancing our deployment capabilities. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design and manage scalable and reliable cloud-based databases, ensuring data integrity and security through appropriate controls and encryption techniques. Your ability to troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues will be vital in maintaining optimal performance and availability of our data services. Additionally, you will be involved in API management, where you will design, develop, and maintain APIs that facilitate integration with various services and applications, ensuring that they adhere to industry standards and best practices. This position is a 6-month contract based in Atlanta, GA, with a hybrid work model that allows for flexibility in your work environment. Your contributions will directly impact our ability to deliver exceptional service to our customers and maintain our status as a leader in the air travel industry.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and manage scalable and reliable cloud-based databases (e.g., AWS RDS).
  • Monitor database performance, implement backup and recovery strategies, and optimize database queries and schemas for efficiency.
  • Ensure data integrity and security by implementing appropriate controls, encryption, and data masking techniques.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, and provide guidance on best practices for database management.
  • Design and manage cloud storage solutions (e.g., AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage, Google Cloud Storage) to support a variety of data types and access patterns.
  • Implement data lifecycle management policies, including archiving, retention, and deletion strategies.
  • Configure and optimize storage systems for performance, cost-efficiency, and security.
  • Ensure high availability and disaster recovery for storage solutions, using replication and cross-region backup strategies.
  • Design, develop, and maintain APIs using best practices and industry standards (e.g., REST, GraphQL).
  • Implement API gateway solutions (e.g., AWS API Gateway, Apigee) to manage and secure API traffic.
  • Monitor API performance, usage, and security, implementing rate limiting, authentication, and authorization as needed.
  • Collaborate with development teams to create and maintain comprehensive API documentation and support integration with various services and applications.

Requirements

  • Experience with DevOps - AWS Code Pipeline, GitLab CI/CD, Helm, Docker, Kubernetes.
  • Experience working with IAM services in AWS - AWS IAM, Roles, Policies, Security Groups.
  • Experience with Cloud Monitoring tools like AWS CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus.
  • Experience with AWS Compute (EC2).
  • Experience working with IAM, security tools and standards (PingID, OIDC, Oauth2.0).
  • Experience with Linux Systems, Package Managers, basic shell scripting, SSH.
  • Experience with IaC (AWS CDK).
  • Comfortable with cloud networking and content delivery (AWS VPC, CloudFront).
  • Highly experienced with AWS database, data warehousing and storage management and configuring to enterprise business standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiar with serverless computing on AWS.
