About the position

The Senior Cloud Developer position at ALTA IT Services is a long-term contract role focused on cloud development to support various projects, including collection and processing pipeline development and database development. The role requires expertise in cloud technology platforms and tools, as well as experience in building and deploying cloud applications using Python and modern front-end frameworks. The position is primarily remote with one day a week onsite in Washington, DC, and requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to pass a federal background check for Level 4 Public Trust Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and support cloud applications for various projects.
• Lead database management, programming, cloud security/recovery, and cloud-centric integration efforts.
• Write and maintain Python code and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for deployment using AWS CDK or Terraform.
• Model business processes using AWS Step Functions.
• Develop container-based applications utilizing REST APIs with Angular or React in TypeScript.
• Perform remediation and unit testing of code during application development and user deployment.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in AWS cloud application development.
• Expert knowledge in cloud technology platforms, cloud tools/services, DevOps, and database management.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies.
• Proficiency in Python for backend services and Angular or React for front-end development.
• Hands-on experience with AWS development and GovCloud development is a plus.
• Experience with Docker and AWS Lambda functions.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with AWS CloudWatch and AWS CloudTrail for logging events.
• Knowledge of data migration techniques for Postgres and Redshift.
• Experience in building and accessing Data Lakes using Glue/Athena/Redshift.
