About the position

As a Senior Cloud Engineer specializing in Azure and VMC at AIG, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the cloud architecture and ensuring optimal performance of cloud workloads within the agency's Azure environment. Your primary responsibilities will include collaborating with development teams to provide feedback on cloud workload solutions, managing cloud environment configurations to support Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) and application workloads, and leveraging your in-depth knowledge of Azure services to design and build automation platforms using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and PowerShell. You will also be responsible for operational support requests, communicating the level of effort and status updates to the cloud leadership team. A critical aspect of your role will involve setting up a secure Azure Cloud Foundation for WVD and Citrix implementations, identifying opportunities to enhance the security posture of cloud environments, and optimizing costs in the Azure Landing Zone in collaboration with the AIG FinOps team. Additionally, your expertise in VMware virtualization and VMC will be essential for creating disaster recovery solutions for Azure and VMC setups. Familiarity with Ansible will be considered a plus. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of cloud engineering methods, applications, and best practices across various cloud service providers. You should have experience in implementing, managing, and supporting security products to protect workloads in Azure, as well as a proven track record in implementing VMware solutions, including VMC. Relevant certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Virtual Desktop, and Azure Developer will be highly regarded. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with development teams to provide feedback for optimal cloud workload solution architecture within the agency Azure environment.
  • Set up and manage the cloud environment configurations to support WVD/application workloads.
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of Azure services to design and build automation platforms using IaC tools like Terraform and PowerShell.
  • Support and complete requests for operational support, communicating level of effort and status to the cloud leadership team.
  • Establish a secure Azure Cloud Foundation for WVD/Citrix implementations.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for improving security posture within cloud environments.
  • Optimize costs in the Azure Landing Zone while working closely with the AIG FinOps team.
  • Implement disaster recovery solutions for Azure and VMC setup creation.

Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of Azure services and cloud engineering methods.
  • Experience in implementing, managing, and supporting security products to protect workloads in Azure.
  • Experience in implementing VMware solutions, including VMC.
  • Strong understanding of automation platforms and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and PowerShell.
  • Certifications: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Virtual Desktop, Azure Developer.
