About the position

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Cloud Engineer to join our dynamic Cloud Platform Engineering team focused on Azure. This role is pivotal as we re-imagine provisioning and automating Infrastructure as Code through CI/CD Pipeline. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing CI/CD pipelines, automating deployments, and optimizing cloud infrastructure. Collaboration with Cloud Infrastructure, Platform, and Workload teams is essential to ensure seamless integration and delivery of solutions in a fast-paced environment. This position drives the technical direction and thought leadership with highly qualified software engineering skills, working in tandem with Enterprise Pipeline teams to build and implement Infrastructure blessed pipeline and orchestration workflows. Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and platform concepts, Vanguard application delivery pipeline, GitHub, Atmos, Terraform, and an understanding of OIDC and Identity Federation are desired skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement new technologies and major releases for critical enterprise-wide IT cloud platform projects.
  • Design, implement, and deploy cloud computing systems to support and meet business needs.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement opportunities for improvement and performance issue solutions.
  • Provide expert level technical support and ensure reliable operation of cloud production.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex issues for cloud computing systems on multiple platforms.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical knowledge of software and infrastructure platforms.
  • Develop technical standards and test/evaluate IT vendor products.
  • Review configuration parameters to optimize system performance and maximize operation uptime.
  • Elevate code into the development, test, and production environments on schedule.
  • Provide follow-up production support and submit change control requests and documents.
  • Learn and understand client area business functions and requirements.
  • Determine the appropriate technical tool to address the client's business needs.
  • Train and mentor junior staff on processes and technologies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues elevated from staff.
  • Provide guidance and consultation as required.
  • Update, write, and maintain documentation for the department.
  • Administer system activities and write the technical portion of assigned deliverables.
  • Perform systems analysis, including system requirements analysis and definition, and logical design.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of eight years related work experience.
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Strong software engineering skills to collaborate with platform and development teams to streamline the software/platform development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and managing CI/CD pipelines using Terraform, Atmos, and GitHub Workflows.
  • Ability to automate infrastructure provisioning and deployments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and Atmos.
  • Experience in monitoring and optimizing Azure environments to ensure high availability, performance, and security.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with OIDC and Identity Federation.

  • Knowledge of Vanguard application delivery pipeline.
