The Senior Cloud Engineer position at Providence is a remote role that can be based in several states including Alaska, California, Montana, Oregon, Texas, and Washington. This role is pivotal in collaborating with various teams within the Information Services (IS) organization to enhance the cloud infrastructure. The Senior Cloud Engineer will leverage their expertise in Azure Cloud Infrastructure and VMware to oversee the infrastructure and services, ensuring high availability, reliability, and scalability. The position requires a solid understanding of both Azure and on-premises solutions, as well as proficiency in Agile DevOps operations. In this role, the Senior Cloud Engineer will be responsible for operational support and execution of cloud strategies, focusing on resource efficiency and maintaining system uptime in accordance with service level agreements. A comprehensive knowledge of Windows Servers, vSphere, and Azure cloud services is essential, along with an understanding of Azure policies, compliance measures, resource optimization, and remediation processes. The position emphasizes the importance of effective communication across organizational pillars to drive technical discussions towards successful outcomes. The essential functions of the role include designing, implementing, and managing cloud infrastructure and services, ensuring they are reliable and secure. The engineer will also be responsible for developing and enforcing cloud security policies to protect data and applications from unauthorized access. Experience in automation tools such as Azure CLI, PowerShell, Ansible, and GitHub is crucial, as is the ability to provide expert-level operational support for both on-premises and Azure cloud environments. The role also involves advanced troubleshooting to resolve complex service issues with minimal disruption to operations, ensuring that production solutions are continuously monitored and effective. Responsibilities

  • Designing, implementing, and managing cloud infrastructure and services to ensure high availability, reliability, and scalability.
  • Expert Azure administration and engineering for IaaS and PaaS, including monitoring, alerting, and optimization.
  • Developing and enforcing cloud security policies and procedures to protect data and applications from unauthorized access and potential security threats.
  • Experience in automation, Azure CLI, PowerShell, Automation, Ansible (AWX), GitHub, and runbooks.
  • Manage automation tooling to support organizational needs for runbooks, pipeline, and desired state.
  • Providing expert-level operational support to Servers located on-premises and Azure cloud environments.
  • Deep understanding of Windows Server and some working Linux knowledge.
  • Communicate effectively across all organizational pillars, driving technical conversations to outcomes.
  • Conducts advanced troubleshooting and devises solutions for intricate service issues to reinstate service with minimal disruption to the caregiver and business operations.
  • Ensures that production solutions are reliable, resilient, secure, and effective and continuously monitored.
  • Participate on weekly on-call rotation schedule.

Requirements

  • Expertise in Azure Cloud Infrastructure and VMware.
