The Hartford's Group Benefits (GB) organization is embarking on a significant transformation of its claims management systems, and we are seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to play a pivotal role in this cloud transformation journey. This position is designed for an experienced cloud engineer who is passionate about engineering innovative solutions that enhance customer experience while ensuring flexibility, scalability, and speed to market. The successful candidate will be instrumental in migrating our on-premise platforms to AWS and will also engage in new development efforts utilizing AWS services. This role is foundational to a broader transformation that aligns with the strategic roadmap of the organization. As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing cloud-based solutions in AWS that are scalable, highly available, fault-tolerant, and easily maintainable. You will translate business requirements into actionable designs and operationalize cloud solutions while adhering to established principles, patterns, and guardrails. Collaboration with the architecture team will be essential in developing cloud application architecture that enables cloud-native solutions. Additionally, you will build and support a robust continuous deployment framework for cloud solutions, effectively partnering with subject matter experts and key stakeholders to drive cloud enablement. Your role will also involve mentoring team members who are new to AWS, fostering a culture of learning and experimentation. You will implement proactive monitoring and observability to predict and detect system anomalies, ensuring system reliability and performance. The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in software development, particularly in Java, and have hands-on experience with AWS core services and infrastructure as code practices. This position requires a self-motivated individual who can work across teams and is eager to learn and adapt to new technologies.
