About the position

The Sr. Cloud Engineer will play a pivotal role in providing ongoing management and technical implementation assistance to ensure the successful delivery and adoption of best practices across the entire Cloud lifecycle at Intelligence Community (IC) agencies. This position requires a deep understanding of cloud technologies and the ability to assess and enhance customers' technical environments. The engineer will apply their expertise in cloud, database, application, middleware, server/OS, storage, networking, and security to guide deployments in the Oracle Cloud. In addition to technical delivery, the role involves customer advocacy, helping clients establish superior cloud onboarding procedures, shaping internal policies, and building fully accredited solutions that align with their mission objectives. The engineer will drive architecture discussions with enterprise service teams focusing on networking, identity, cybersecurity, and billing at IC agencies. This includes facilitating meetings, managing engagement schedules, and ensuring the integration of agency enterprise services with the Oracle Cloud. The role also involves assisting with the documentation of cloud architecture and developing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to support these integrations. Furthermore, the engineer will conduct rapid assessments of customers' internal technology and skills landscape, targeting use cases and deployment strategies for Oracle Cloud solutions tailored to mission programs at IC agencies. Troubleshooting issues and facilitating problem resolution will be essential to ensure that customers maximize their investment in Oracle Cloud solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in large enterprise/cloud-level information technology, cybersecurity, and compliance, with a focus on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or equivalent experience from AWS or Microsoft Azure. Knowledge of cloud migration strategies and methods for transitioning on-premises workloads to cloud environments is crucial for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing management and technical implementation assistance for cloud lifecycle at IC agencies.
  • Assess customers' technical environments and guide deployments in the Oracle Cloud.
  • Establish superior cloud onboarding procedures and shape internal policies for clients.
  • Drive architecture discussions with enterprise service teams for networking, identity, cybersecurity, and billing.
  • Facilitate meetings and manage engagement schedules with customers for integration of agency services with Oracle Cloud.
  • Assist with documentation of cloud architecture for agency services integration.
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to enable integration of agency services with Oracle Cloud.
  • Conduct rapid assessments of customers' technology and skills landscape for Oracle Cloud solutions.
  • Troubleshoot issues and facilitate problem resolution to maximize customer investment in Oracle Cloud solutions.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience with large enterprise/cloud-level information technology, cyber security, and compliance.
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or related experience from AWS or Microsoft Azure.
  • Knowledge of cloud migration strategies and methods to move on-prem workloads to Cloud environments.
  • Solid technical knowledge of Oracle software portfolio, including database, middleware, integration, and security solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with Cloud networking, connectivity strategies, compute services, operating systems, storage, and virtualization technologies.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
  • Direct knowledge/experience with US government contract and system accreditation processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with complex project management in multi-cloud projects.
  • Scripting/development experience in Python, Java, Node.js, Bash, etc.
  • Knowledge of security guidelines and compliance frameworks such as ICD503, DoD DISA Cloud Computing Security Guide, FEDRAMP, and NIST.
  • Networking & Security experience including networks, subnets, route tables, gateways, and firewalls.
  • One or more relevant certifications such as OCI Associate Architect, AWS Solutions Architect, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect.
