About the position

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer with our client in the transportation industry in their Atlanta, GA location. This is a 12 month + contract position. The client is on a journey to become the best IT organization in the airline industry, undergoing a transformation that changes the way they do business from top to bottom. The Senior Cloud Engineer will provide technical leadership and design expertise for AWS Foundation integration, define standards and patterns for leveraging AWS services efficiently, and lead automation of AWS integration processes and tasks. Additionally, the role involves aiding the development of Public Cloud Usage Statistics and Reporting dashboards for account owners, developing frameworks and tools for development teams to consume authorized AWS services, and partnering with the DevTools team to develop and deploy a CI/CD pipeline using tools such as Gitlab, Maven, and Jenkins. The engineer will also lead automation development using Ansible or CloudFormation to support the acceleration of application delivery into AWS, ensuring that Security-by-Design is a foundational component of every application deployed into AWS. Furthermore, the engineer will ensure enterprise monitoring standards are applied to each AWS application deployment, contribute to the creation and management of Intranet FAQs, user guides, and knowledgebase documents, and provide leadership in identifying new concepts, ideas, techniques, and technology assistance. The role requires performing cost-benefit analysis to determine the best system architecture and mentoring engineering and development staff on public cloud integration design and hygiene, driving quality, consistency, resiliency, security, and supportability into designs. The engineer will also partner with peer infrastructure teams to provide enterprise-class AWS integration and design and maintain standard templates, reference architectures, and design patterns that aid other Cloud Engineers in developing standards-based designs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and design expertise for AWS Foundation integration

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in design and implementation of large enterprise public cloud environments
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience integrating mission critical applications into AWS
  • Deep understanding of AWS services (IAM, VPCs, Landing Zone, EC2, ECS, KMS, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Systems Manager, S3, RDS, Route53, Lambda, AWS Config, etc.)
  • Experience building and securing infrastructure as code using CloudFormation, Ansible, SAM and/or similar tools
  • Fluency with one or more scripting/coding languages such as Java, Javascript, REST, JSON, Python, bash
  • Experience implementing and leveraging the logging and monitoring solutions
  • Experience in cloud native architectures and micro-services design
  • Understanding of the shared responsibility model in AWS
  • Proven record of accomplishments in major enterprise level projects
  • Experience in design of complex distributed systems environments
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges
  • Ability to clearly communicate and present to various levels of the organization
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Independent and self-motivated and very thorough worker
