About the position

As a Senior Cloud Engineer at Black & Veatch, you will be responsible for managing the cloud lifecycle, including planning, design, oversight, automation, and optimization of cloud solutions. This role requires collaboration with various teams and stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of cloud technologies, primarily focusing on AWS and Azure. You will also act as a subject matter expert and advocate for technology adoption, ensuring compliance and addressing client needs.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain contact and build relationships with operating businesses, IT management, IT vendors, and technical architects to ensure availability, security, and satisfaction.
  • Assist in identifying new and improved approaches, technologies, tools, templates, and business use cases.
  • Assess cloud environments for capacity, connectivity, performance, and resiliency.
  • Design, code, test, and implement Terraform cloud automations/deployments.
  • Review, approve, and represent Change Tickets in the Cloud Infrastructure Area.
  • Lead Break-Fix situations with multiple team members including managed service provider partners.
  • Maintain broad-based technical and solutions knowledge in key infrastructure optimization and solution areas.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Cloud Engineer with a focus on AWS and Azure; GCP & OCI exposure preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with SSO and Identity Federation services (Entra, B2B/B2C).
  • 2+ years of scripting with Terraform.
  • Experience in leading the delivery of assessments, development of business cases, and solution architecture.
  • Strong written skills for creating concise and structured recommendations and simplifying systems architectures.
  • Financial fluency including working with ROI, cost analysis, and financial statements.
  • BS and/or MS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
