About the position

The Senior Cloud Engineer role at Vector Consulting involves managing and optimizing AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability and security of cloud services, and collaborating with development teams to integrate cloud solutions into applications. The position requires expertise in AWS services, automation, and cloud security, along with a strong background in server administration and networking.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day AWS server and client operations including backups and provisioning of AWS storage.
  • Design, implement, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure using services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, and VPC.
  • Automate cloud deployments and management tasks using Python and Boto3, focusing on infrastructure-as-code principles.
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate cloud services into applications and optimize performance.
  • Implement and manage cloud security policies, roles, and permissions using IAM.
  • Monitor and optimize cloud services for cost and performance using tools like CloudWatch, AWS Config, and CloudTrail.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve cloud infrastructure issues, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Write and maintain clear documentation of cloud architectures, automation scripts, and operational procedures.
  • Stay current with AWS services, best practices, and new features.

Requirements

  • Experience with AWS serverless technologies and orchestration tools for building scalable and automated cloud native solutions (3 years required).
  • Experience installing, configuring, and supporting SUSE, Red Hat, Windows 10, Windows Server 2019, 2022 in both physical and VM environments (3 years required).
  • Expertise with AWS cloud platform tools for data and process monitoring (3 years required).
  • Experience with AWS account, roles, and permission configuration and administration (3 years required).
  • Expertise in networking architectures and interconnectivity options (e.g., IP VPN, MPLS, VPLS).
  • Experience troubleshooting connectivity issues from client software/device to ISP (1 year required).
  • Experience supporting Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, group policy, and VPN (1 year required).
  • Linux administration experience is highly desired.
  • Support of AWS server/client-based hardening requirements is highly desired.
  • BS in information technology, Computer Engineering, Cyber Security, or related field is required.
  • Cloud experience (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) is required.
  • Cisco CCNP certification and/or CISSP is preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of related work experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Additional IT Certification preferred (MCSE, VMWare VCAP, Palo Alto PCNSA).
  • Experienced in routing/switching, VLAN, security, and/or wireless (Ubiquity experience a plus).
  • Expert knowledge of IPv4 and TCP/IP design, operations, and troubleshooting.
  • Routing protocols EIGRP, OSPF, BGP experience is a plus.
  • A working knowledge of cabling standards (copper, fiber, ethernet, etc.).
  • SD-WAN, remote access, and SSL VPN experience.
  • Virtualization experience.
  • Cisco ASA & Fortinet firewall experience is a plus.
