About the position

SoundCloud is seeking a Senior Cloud Network Engineer to support the architecture, operation, and maintenance of its hybrid cloud network infrastructure. This role involves leveraging expertise in multi-region network topology and cloud networking to ensure optimal performance and scalability across AWS and GCP environments. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to automate and manage cloud infrastructure, while also overseeing critical network operations in data centers.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain multi-region hybrid cloud network infrastructures across AWS, GCP, and on-premise environments, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using Terraform, Python, Bash, and Ansible to drive efficiency and operational consistency across cloud and on-premise resources.
• Analyze network architecture, cloud connectivity, and routing performance to identify optimization opportunities, implementing solutions to enhance reliability and scalability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of cloud network solutions, while maintaining alignment with organizational goals and best practices.
• Manage and secure cloud services like AWS (VPC, Direct Connect, Transit Gateway, Route 53), and optimize security measures using WAF/Shield, CloudFront, and other cloud-native tools.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in network engineering, with a strong emphasis on cloud networking across AWS environments (AWS Certifications are a plus).
• Strong experience with AWS network services, including Virtual Private Cloud, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, Route 53, WAF/Shield, and CloudFront.
• Extensive expertise using infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Python, Ansible, and Bash to automate and streamline the management of cloud and hybrid infrastructures.
• Skilled in managing bare-metal servers, switches, routers, and data center environments, focusing on seamlessly integrating cloud solutions.
• Expertise in Linux systems and managing cloud-native load balancers and reverse proxies such as HAProxy or Envoy.
• Ability to work collaboratively across geographically distributed teams.
• Preparedness for on-call rotations to ensure the continuous availability of cloud and network services.
