About the position

The Senior Cloud Security and Automation Engineer will be responsible for defining, building, and implementing security capabilities in a multi-cloud environment. This role involves enhancing the cloud security posture through automation of security controls and remediation. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the security and compliance of cloud-based systems and services, requiring a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and implement security tools and technologies to enhance cloud security capabilities and manage their lifecycle.
  • Oversee day-to-day security operations in the cloud, including threat detection, incident response, and vulnerability management in IaC and Containers.
  • Lead the response to security incidents and breaches in cloud systems, coordinating with cross-platform teams and leveraging cloud security, SIEM and cloud-native tools.
  • Provide training and professional development opportunities to cross-platform engineering and operations team members and democratize cloud security.
  • Exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining best results implementing security practices.
  • Work under minimal supervision with general guidance from Technical Manager and provide direction and guidance on Cloud Security to cross functional teams.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • At least five years functional and technical experience with Cloud technologies, three plus years experience in cloud security and a minimum of 2 years in DevOps and Container technologies.
  • Fluent in English, in both verbal and written communication.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise security solutions such as Wiz, Microsoft Defender, CrowdStrike, Splunk, Taegis, and Cloud Native tools.
  • Strong experience building and implementing auto remediation frameworks in AWS and Azure, building playbooks to remediate cloud resources.
  • Strong experience automating provisioning of cloud resources using AWS Service Management Connector, CloudFormation, Terraform, Azure Resource Manager and implementing pipeline-based deployment.
  • Technical understanding and experience with cloud networking within AWS/Azure cloud environments.
  • Understanding of Cloud Security Frameworks like FedRamp, NIST, ISO, etc., and Well-Architected Cloud Frameworks.
  • Strong ability to review architectural patterns for security in both AWS and Azure.

  • Master's degree preferred
  • Awareness of developments in AI/ML Technologies within AWS and Azure.
  • Understanding operating systems and hardware/software platforms, including VDI infrastructure.
  • An understanding of network security, architecture and segmentation.
  • An understanding of encryption technologies and best practices.
  • Operational support and/or incident response experience.
  • Exceptional ability to prioritize work within a dynamic and ever-changing threat and technology landscape.
  • Proficiency with platform reliability engineering.
  • Ability to mentor, inspire, influence and motivate junior staff.
  • Experience in managing vendors and managed service partners.
