About the position

As a Senior Cloud Security Engineer at Centene Corporation, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the security of our cloud infrastructure, which serves 28 million members. Your primary responsibility will be to develop cloud automation routines that streamline operations and protect our cloud components from adversaries. You will be tasked with defining cloud security standards and implementing technologies to ensure compliance with these standards. This includes developing cloud reference architectures that support and configure cloud infrastructure and cloud-native security solutions. In this role, you will evaluate enterprise solutions to ensure they adhere to security controls and validate security risks upon mitigation. You will conduct thorough analyses of the current cloud security architecture to identify critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement. Your responsibilities will also include auditing security and operational configurations, proactively monitoring security alerts, and creating comprehensive security documentation. You will work closely with relevant parties and stakeholders to track findings to closure and undertake initiatives to enhance cloud workload security configurations. Additionally, you will lead audits and assessments, preparing assessment plans, reviewing documentation, evaluating procedures, and conducting interviews with application teams. Your expertise will be crucial in evaluating the design and effectiveness of cloud security controls throughout the business cycle, helping to identify opportunities for performance improvement. This position requires compliance with all company policies and standards, and you will perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Develop cloud automation routines to streamline operations.
  • Streamline and automate operational tasks and processes to protect the organization's cloud infrastructure.
  • Define cloud security standards and implement technologies to measure conformance against these standards.
  • Develop cloud reference architectures to support and configure cloud infrastructure and cloud-native security solutions.
  • Evaluate enterprise solutions for adherence to security controls and validate security risks upon mitigation.
  • Perform analysis of the current cloud security architecture to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement.
  • Audit security and operational configurations, including system vulnerabilities.
  • Proactively monitor and validate security alerts and vulnerabilities.
  • Create security documents, design standard operating procedures, and report findings to relevant parties and stakeholders.
  • Undertake initiatives to review and generate recommendations for cloud workload security configurations.
  • Lead audits/assessments, including assessment plan preparation and evaluation of procedures.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or business field (e.g., statistics, mathematics, engineering, computer science).
  • 4 - 6 years of related experience or equivalent experience reflecting the level of this position.
  • Experience with AWS and Azure Cloud Environments.
  • Experience with IT Assessments, Audits, and Vulnerability Scans.
  • Experience with IT Security Controls for Cloud environments.
  • Experience with various SIEM, EDR, and GRC tools such as MS Defender, Tenable Nessus, Prisma, and RSA Archer.
  • Operational knowledge of cloud-native and third-party security solutions.
  • Experience with Automation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Splunk is helpful.
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) Certified Security - Specialty or Azure Security Engineer Associate or Professional Cloud Security Engineer preferred.
  • CISSP Certified Information Systems Security Professional preferred.
