About the position

The Senior Cloud Security Engineer at Optimum is responsible for ensuring the security of the company's cloud infrastructure across various platforms, including Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Microsoft Azure. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced security measures to protect cloud-based systems and data from cyber threats. The engineer will lead risk assessments, develop security solutions, enforce compliance with industry standards, and mentor junior engineers, all while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement robust security architectures for cloud environments using tools such as Wiz, Tenable, and Darktrace.
  • Deploy and configure security tools and technologies to protect cloud infrastructure, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, encryption mechanisms, access controls, and identity management solutions.
  • Develop and maintain monitoring systems for detecting and responding to security incidents in cloud environments.
  • Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Implement automation scripts and tools to streamline security processes and enhance incident response capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to cloud security.
  • Provide leadership and training on cloud security best practices and threat mitigation strategies.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate security measures into cloud-native and hybrid environments.
  • Mentor junior cloud security engineers and lead security-related projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • 5-7 years of experience in cloud security engineering roles, focusing on GCP, AWS, and Azure.
  • Proficiency in designing and managing security controls within cloud platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with security tools such as Wiz, Tenable, Darktrace, SIEM, DLP, WAF, CASB, and endpoint security solutions.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts and the ability to troubleshoot complex security issues.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) and automation frameworks.
  • Industry certifications in cloud security (e.g., CCSK, CCSP, GCP Professional Cloud Security Engineer, AWS Certified Security - Specialty) are highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cloud cost optimization and understanding of cloud pricing models.
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust principles, IaC, IAAS, Security Groups, Key Management Services, SDLC, and CI/CD pipelines.
