About the position

As a Senior Cloud Software Engineer for the Public Risk Group at Tokio Marine HCC, you will play a pivotal role in the development and release of business applications, application integrations, and microservices. This position is integral to supporting critical business application systems, leveraging AWS cloud-based technologies and services. You will lead the development, implementation, integration, and maintenance of these systems, ensuring that the most efficient processes and technologies are utilized throughout the product development lifecycle. Your collaboration with business and engineering teams will be essential in analyzing, documenting, and developing solutions that meet business needs and opportunities, ultimately delivering intended outcomes in a timely manner. In this role, you will work across Agile teams to drive the delivery of cloud-based capabilities that will transform the application landscape. Your expertise in AWS cloud capabilities, C#, .NET, SQL, Python, and Cloud DevOps will be crucial for your success. You will partner with leadership, engineers, product managers, and business customers to understand data needs and translate application requirements into effective technology solutions. Your responsibilities will include designing, developing, and deploying dynamically scalable, high-available, fault-tolerant, and reliable applications to cloud environments, as well as leading DevOps standards and practices to implement continuous integration and distribution pipelines for application deployment. As a subject matter expert in Cloud and DevOps capabilities, you will influence both short- and long-term strategies with cross-functional teams to drive impact. You will take ownership of the end-to-end data engineering component of the solution and promote a cloud-first culture throughout the organization. This is a hands-on development role that requires you to lead and execute daily tasks, ensuring that you maintain a high standard of quality and efficiency in all deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with leadership, engineers, product managers, and business customers to understand data needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand application requirements and translate them into effective technology solutions.
  • Design, develop, and deploy dynamically scalable, high-available, fault-tolerant, and reliable applications to Cloud environments.
  • Lead DevOps standards and practices to implement continuous integration and distribution pipelines to deploy applications.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in Cloud and DevOps capabilities.
  • Select and utilize appropriate services based on given requirements and use cases.
  • Influence short- and long-term strategy with cross-functional teams to drive impact.
  • Take ownership of the end-to-end data engineering component of the solution.
  • Promote a cloud-first culture throughout the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • 5 years of relevant and progressive professional experience in software development and support.
  • Strong experience in C# and .NET Core programming language and framework.
  • Skills for developing, deploying, and debugging cloud applications (familiar with AWS Well-Architected Framework, Domain Driven Design, and 12-factor applications).
  • Skills in API usage, command line interface, and SDKs (AWS API Gateway, Amazon EKS, Amazon RDS, Amazon ELB).
  • Strong experience with Relational Databases (preferably MSSQL Server and PostgreSQL Server).
  • Well versed in usage of containers (Docker) and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
  • Ability to maintain continuous integration and continuous delivery process using tools such as Azure DevOps pipelines and AWS Code Pipeline.
  • Familiarity with package managers (PyPi and Nuget) and usage of AWS Code Artifacts and Azure Artifacts.
  • Familiarity with GIT branching strategy and software versioning strategy.
  • Hands-on experience in building, designing, and maintaining cloud-based applications with AWS.
  • Strong experience with Build and Release, Systems Integration, Agile, Estimations/Planning.
  • Skilled in technical design of the UI components and performance tuning and re-factoring for UI Portals.
  • Strong experience in software development process, test-driven development.
  • Strong OO design skills/implementation of design patterns.
  • Good written and oral communications skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Advanced proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office Package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Insurance or Financial Service industry experience desired.
