About the position

As a Senior Cloud Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting intelligence operations in Springfield, VA. This position involves working on Research, Development, Testing, and Evaluation (RDT&E) of cloud systems, where you will leverage your extensive experience to solve complex technology problems and implement innovative solutions. You will interface with software developers, manage infrastructure, and ensure the security and performance of cloud systems, contributing to national security efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Support Research, Development, Testing, and Evaluation (RDT&E) of cloud systems.
  • Interface directly with software developers to design and maintain infrastructure.
  • Demonstrate new technologies and capabilities in the cloud.
  • Perform general systems administration duties including software installations and upgrades.
  • Monitor systems health and troubleshoot interconnectivity issues.
  • Implement security best practices under federal and industry standards.
  • Optimize systems for performance, cost, uptime, and redundancy.
  • Develop and maintain automated data backup and recovery strategies.
  • Provide software deployment support to development teams.
  • Utilize tools and processes to optimize and maintain systems.
  • Document all processes using technology means.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in a systems engineering capacity.
  • AWS Certification.
  • Network and Linux administration experience.
  • Experience implementing serverless technologies (e.g., AWS Lambda, Batch).
  • Experience with Docker container orchestration and VM-related technologies.
  • Experience implementing AWS scalable architectures.
  • Practical implementation of DevOps principles.
  • Familiarity with programming and scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python).
  • Direct experience using AWS cloud technologies in R&D and operational environments.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Additional cloud certifications or hands-on experience with advanced cloud services.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting and optimizing cloud systems.
