About the position

The Senior Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) / Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) position at Logan Health involves providing essential nursing care to patients under the supervision of Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs). This role is critical in ensuring that patients receive high-quality care and support throughout their pre-operative and post-operative experiences. In this role, the Senior CNA / HUC will perform a variety of tasks that include delivering both basic and advanced patient care, coordinating workloads, and prioritizing patient needs in collaboration with RNs and LPNs. The individual will be responsible for taking vital signs, documenting patient care, and maintaining patient privacy in accordance with Logan Health policies. Additionally, the role includes administrative duties that must be executed in an organized and accurate manner, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards. The position also requires the ability to perform phlebotomy tasks, including venipuncture, specimen labeling, and test ordering. The Senior CNA / HUC must exhibit strong organizational skills, critical thinking abilities, and effective communication skills to manage sensitive situations with professionalism and tact. This role is essential in fostering a team-oriented environment while also allowing for independent functioning when necessary. Regular attendance and adherence to the scheduled shifts are crucial, as the healthcare environment operates 24/7 to meet patient care needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provides basic nursing care to patients under the direction of RNs and LPNs.
  • Performs administrative tasks in an organized and accurate manner as applicable to assigned areas.
  • Delivers basic and advanced patient care to meet the needs of patients in assigned areas.
  • Coordinates workloads and patient priorities with RNs and LPNs to expedite processes.
  • Assists in HUC duties and prioritizes customer service.
  • Takes patients' vital signs and informs RNs/LPNs of any abnormalities or changes in condition.
  • Maintains patient privacy and documents care according to Logan Health policies.
  • Restocks rooms and supply areas, and maintains equipment for safety and cleanliness.
  • Upholds organizational customer service policies while caring for patients.
  • Performs venipuncture, verifies patient identification, and labels specimens accurately.

Requirements

  • Current Montana Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) Certificate required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year CNA work experience required.
  • Current CPR certification as applicable to assigned areas.
  • Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) experience preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in acute care preferred.
  • Possess and maintain computer skills, including Microsoft Office and EMR programs.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is required.
  • Current phlebotomy experience or completed college coursework in phlebotomy and passed a phlebotomy skills test is required.
  • Excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
