About the position

The Senior CNC Programmer is responsible for managing and leading CNC programming, editing, and setting up all types of reductive type numerical controlled machines. This role requires a strong understanding of CNC operations and the ability to collaborate with engineering teams to ensure efficient production processes.

Responsibilities

  • Program CNC lathes; 3, 4, and 5 axis horizontal and vertical mills.
  • Ensure comprehensive blueprint interpretation of customers' part quality intent and full competence with ASME Y14.5 Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Utilize experience with airfoil GD&T and datum alignment via complex surfaces.
  • Write instructions and technical specifications for production machinist's use in setup, total productive maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and best machining practices.
  • Perform mathematical calculations to convert from part origin to feature-based origins for programming CNC's to ensure all part quality requirements on the drawing are met.
  • Write development programs and modify existing released production programs for root cause and corrective action as well as increased efficiency while meeting AS9100 software control requirements.
  • Select spindle speeds, table or machine head feeds, cutting tool types, and cutting tool coatings for programs optimal for cutting all mold tooling metals and carbon composite materials.
  • Identify and implement improvements to set up (alignment, part setup, fixturing, part probing) to reduce time.
  • Utilize experience with probe programming using Renishaw probes and macros of all fixture and part features to enable feature manipulation.
  • Perform adaptive machining on composite parts with complex contours.
  • Collaborate and participate in all PDR and CDR machined part designs from engineering to validate their functions and ensure their success in increasing efficiency.
  • Define and develop best practices for taking measurements on fixtures, detecting machine system malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, adjusting and re-programming controls, adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards for commissioning new fixtures and machines.
  • Develop fixture design.
