About the position

Join our Maritime & Coastal (M&C) group in Florida as a Senior Coastal / Civil Engineer, where you will play a pivotal role in engineering design, permitting, bid package preparation, and construction oversight for a diverse portfolio of projects across the United States. Your work will encompass coastal, estuary, and other waterways restoration and resiliency projects, alongside municipal infrastructure and land-based improvements. This position is not just about technical expertise; it’s about making a positive impact on the future of transport and ensuring sustainable practices for generations to come. As a technical team member and leader, you will assist with coastal permitting and environmental documentation, prepare data for grant applications, and collaborate closely with community stakeholders and industry partners. Your responsibilities will also include conducting condition assessments, planning, analysis, design, and construction management of waterfront infrastructure for various clients, including federal, private, and municipal entities. You will support or lead construction teams, coordinate with cross-discipline teams on other market sector projects, and foster existing and new client relationships. In this role, you will be expected to deliver projects on time and within budget while maintaining project requirements for safety, quality, and efficiency. You will also have the opportunity to coach, train, and empower project teams, providing mentorship and development advice to junior staff. Staying current with M&C market trends and technical qualifications will be essential to your success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with coastal permitting and environmental documents, writing and data preparation for grant applications, collaborating closely with community, stakeholders and industry.
  • Assist with the condition assessment, planning, analysis, design and construction management of waterfront infrastructure and facilities for port, federal, private and municipal clients.
  • Support or lead construction teams of resident engineers, inspectors, administration and sub-consultants on multiple projects of varying subject areas.
  • Coordinate and work with cross-discipline teams on other market sector projects.
  • Grow and lead existing and new client relationships.
  • Support pursuit/proposal efforts, developing scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Maintain project requirements for safety, quality, and efficiency throughout the duration of the project.
  • Proactively coach, train and empower project teams; provide mentorship and development advice to junior level staff.
  • Stay current and well advised on M&C market trends, client spending, assets, resiliency and logistics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Coastal Engineering, Civil Engineering, or similar technical field.
  • PE license is required.
  • 10-15 years relevant industry related engineering, design, and management experience, with a strong emphasis on M&C projects.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D is desirable.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience leading teams and developing coastal models; including hydrodynamic, wave, sediment transport, passing vessel and mooring analyses.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication abilities.
