About the position

As a Senior COBOL Programmer Analyst at Gainwell, you will leverage your extensive programming skills to enhance the health and well-being of vulnerable communities. This role involves supporting COBOL mainframe environments, designing and documenting changes to legacy systems, and developing application software. You will collaborate with architects and developers to ensure accurate design requirements and deliver high-quality project outcomes, while also providing leadership to less experienced team members.

Responsibilities

  • Support COBOL mainframe environment
  • Design, document, and coordinate changes to legacy modules
  • Develop, install, and test application software on the mainframe
  • Deliver technical architecture solution elements
  • Coordinate between application architects and developers to ensure design requirements are met
  • Work in a project team to define and develop project requirements and deliverables
  • Analyze and estimate feasibility and compatibility with other programs
  • Provide quality control for project deliverables
  • Define, design, and develop complex systems requirements
  • Evaluate, test, debug, and implement application programs
  • Assess architecture and hardware limitations for compatibility
  • Design, develop, troubleshoot, and analyze complex software programs
  • Provide leadership and guidance to less experienced personnel

Requirements

  • 10+ years of applications development and programming experience
  • 4+ years of programming and on-call support experience in COBOL/MVS/JCL/IBM mainframe environment
  • Experience exposing CICS and COBOL programs as web services via CICS Transaction Server (CTS)
  • Hands-on experience with CICS, TSO, CHANGEMAN, SQL, DB2, Abend-Aid, MainView, and Xpediter CICS
  • Familiarity with Easytrieve and FileAid
  • Experience in all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle
  • Knowledge of design, analysis, programming, testing, debugging, implementation, and documentation techniques
  • Healthcare IT experience with claims, payer, Medicaid, or Medicare systems is preferred
